Desolator Enlist Nile’s Karl Sanders for New Song “The Great Law of the Dead”

Don’t assume that just because “The Great Law of the Dead” features Nile’s Karl Sanders that it sounds like Nile. The new song from Sweden’s Desolator — not to be confused with Australia’s Desolator, Colombia’s Desolator, Finland’s Desolator, the Philippines’s Desolator, Poland’s Desolator, the Desolator from the U.S., the other Desolator from the U.S., or the British Desolator — is a little bit more melodic and groovy and than the material for which Nile is best known. I would probably compare it more to a pared-down Rotting Christ than Nile.

I don’t mean any of that as a diss! The track is destructive and chunky and catchy and all the good things. And the fact that it has a different vibe from Nile makes Sanders’ solo all the more special; it’s a little simpler (relatively speaking), a little more canorous, a little more slithery, and… dare I say a little more emotional?… a little more arena-rockish?… than what we usually hear from him. It’s some truly epic shit.

Check out “The Great Law of the Dead” below. Desolator’s sophomore full-length, Sermon of Apathy, comes out September 4th on Black Lion Records. Pre-order it here.
