Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross Land Emmy Nominations for Their Watchmen Score

Mazel tov to Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. The Oscar-winning duo racked up two Emmy Nominations today — both for their contributions to HBO’s Watchmen — in the categories of Music Composition for a Limited Series, Movie or Special (Original Dramatic Score) and Original Music and Lyrics. The former nom is for the series premiere, “It’s Summer and We’re Running Out of Ice.” The latter nom is for the song “The Way It Used to Be,” which appeared in the sixth episode of the series, “This Extraordinary Being.”

Watchmen was pretty much the best thing on television last year, and the score was a big part of it, so these nominations are very much well-deserved.

This year’s Emmys will take place on September 20.
