Pig Destroyer Announce New EP, Release Incredible Music Video
Pig Destroyer have made it worth my while to get out of bed this morning by announcing that they’ll release a new EP, The Octagonal Stairway, on August 28 (via Relapse, natch). Aw, man! That’s just a day after my mom’s birthday. Think she’ll accept a 24-hour IOU?
According to a press release, the EP “features 6 crushing tracks from the legendary band, B-side noise tracks, and a special appearance from Iggor Cavalera” of Sepultura/ Cavalera Conspiracy fame. These include three songs the origins of which I do not know (“News Channel 6,” “Sound Walker,” and track that shares a name with 2018’s Head Cage), two songs that were originally released as part of the Adult Swim music series (the title track and “Cameraman”), and one song that was previously released only as part of the Decibel flexi disc series (“The Cavalry”).
Speaking of “The Cavalry”: the band has also released a music video for that track, which mixes live footage with video submitted by fans after the start of the coronavirus pandemic. It’s pretty awesome. I mean the live footage is cool — ain’t no party like a Pig Destroyer party — but the fan video is out of this freakin’ world. People got pretty creative, and the results are sufficiently entertaining that you’ll wanna watch the clip at least twice.
