Umbra Vitae (Converge, the Red Chord, Etc.) Debut New Video, “Ethereal Emptiness”
Umbra Vitae, the new death metal supergroup featuring Jacob Bannon (Converge), Sean Martin (Twitching Tongues, ex-Hatebreed), Mike McKenzie (The Red Chord, Stomach Earth), Jon “Charn” Rice (ex-Job for a Cowboy, Scorpion Child, etc.), and Greg Weeks (The Red Chord), have released a video for “Ethereal Emptiness” from their debut album, Shadow of Life.
Explains Bannon of the track:
“‘Ethereal Emptiness’ is about the ferocity of negativity and the complexities that life can sometimes bring. Often it can feel like the fabric of rational being is under attack. When I am faced with that adversity, rather than retreat into an archaic belief system, I regroup and recenter with the intent to find clarity and calm. I attempt to embrace what is rather than what could be. We should cherish that emptiness even though it can be intimidating. It is a true beginning and it’s up to each one of us what we do with it. Below are the lyrics which summarize this idea in a more poetic form.”
Shadow of Life is out now via Bannon’s own Deathwish Inc. You can order it here. A physical release is expected later this year. Check out previous singles “Mantra of Madness” and “Return to Zero.”
