GWAR Frontman: Oderus Urungus Wouldn’t Want His Statue Placed in a “Row of Losers”

There’s lately been an ever-growing fan campaign to tear down a statue of Confederate cockfart Robert E. Lee in Richmond, VA, and replace it with one of Oderus Urungus, the GWAR singer who, six years ago, finally gave up on humanity and returned to the band’s native planet, Scumdoggia. But not everyone thinks this is a great idea, which ought to come as no surprise.

What IS surprising is that one of the people who doesn’t think it’s a great idea is Oderus’ successor in GWAR, Blöthar the Berserker.

But fret not! Blöthar’s stance has nothing to do envy induced by years of living in the shadow of Urungus. Actually, Blöthar’s stance is quite a bit cooler than that. Speaking to CoS, Blöthar explained:

“I don’t think that Oderus should replace Robert E. Lee on that statue in Richmond. For one thing, he’d be in some really shitty company. It’s just a parade of douchebags.”

He continued:

“Why would Oderus want to be in that row of losers? Even if they pulled them all down, Monument Avenue still has the reputation of being the place where losers [are honored with statues]. What kind of a county allows the losers of a war to erect a bunch of monuments and statues to themselves.”

Blöthar’s concluded by asserting that there should be “statues of Oderus everywhere,” not just on Richmond’s Monument Avenue.

So what does Blöthar’s suggest the Virginia government should do with the Lee Statue? “I think they should just explode the entire damn monument,” says the vocalist. “Make it a big smoldering hole in the ground.”
