Former Varials Vocalist Accuses Band of Using Racial Slur

Varials are the latest band to come under fire for allegedly using a slur against minorities in the past.

The accusation comes from their former vocalist, Travis Tabron. Tabron left the band in January, stating at the time that “no matter how much I loved what I was doing it was just simply becoming toxic to my mental health and well-being.”

Tabron made the allegation in response to the band’s new shirt design to benefit The Bail Project and Campaign Zero, two charities closely associated with The Black Lives Matter movement:

When a fan then asked why Tabron waited so long to make the accusation, the vocalist responded:

……because as a black person it is extremely disgusting to see people pretend to care by making a charity shirt when they used to literally bust out in tears laughing saying the hard R in the van???? also bc of people like you that would say it’s somehow my fault????— BBL DRIZZY (@strawberryTrav) June 6, 2020

Tabron later elaborated in a separate thread:
