The Contortionist Vocalist Guests on Jia’s New Track, “Become”
Progressive metal trio Jia have been calling on their friends in the metal scene for guest spots on new songs, and it just so happens they’ve got some pretty famous (and talented) friends. Former Periphery vocalist Casey Sabol and current Animals as Leaders drummer Matt Garstka guested on “Drift,” which we shared last month, and vocalist Michael Lessard (The Contortionist) and drummer Eddie DeCesare (Monochromatic Black) appear on their latest, “Become.”
The band’s core, bassist Jacob Umansky (Intervals), guitarist Ivan Chopik and keyboardist Alan Hankers, offer of their latest single:
“’Become’ is the second in a series of singles for which we collaborated with guest artists. This track blends rhythmic complexity and ominous harmony with haunting melodies that float above the industrial instrumental.”
Lessard’s performance here is typically enveloping — I just love the guy’s voice — and DeCesare, whose work I’m unfamiliar, slays it here, too.
Give it a spin below. Jia plan to keep releasing new music single-by-single over the coming months.
