Classic Concert of the Day: Guns N’ Roses in Tokyo, 1992
You’re all cooped up. We’re all cooped up. Everyone’s friggin’ cooped up! You’re scrolling through our social feeds, texting with friends, eating, drinking coffee, watching TV, scrolling through our social feeds again, eating again, playing that dumb mobile game you downloaded from an Instagram ad and can’t stop playing, eating again, chatting with friends on a Zoom call, scrolling through our social feeds again, all while worrying about where your next paycheck is gonna come from. These are tough times, people.
To help pass the time, we’ll be periodically sharing a classic metal concert. Watch some of it, watch all of it, watch only one song… we don’t care! As it long as it provides you with a bit of entertainment.
Guns N’ Roses’ big summer tour has been postponed. That’s a bummer! But if you’re looking for a way to at least kinda-sorta experience the band live despite the bad news, you’ve got a couple of options. You could check out the group’s new streaming video series, which focuses on the reunion tour they’ve been doing the past four years…
…or you could watch the below, pro-shot video of GN’R’s entire concert from on February 22, 1992 at the Tokyo Dome in Japan. This is Guns N’ Roses as many of us remember them, and as much fun as the reunion tour has been, it’s hard not to feel nostalgic for this version of the band, which was younger and way more physically active on stage (although I doubt anyone misses Axl Rose’s bike shorts). It’s also got a killer setlist that includes a ton of great material they haven’t played live in years, like “Bad Obsession” and “Pretty Tied Up.”
