CONTRACULT Collective Stream New Song “It’s the Water”
The rising industrial metal act CONTRACULT Collective continue to impress with their third single, “It’s the Water.” Although clearly influenced by a range of acts who enjoyed their heyday in the ’80s and ’90s (Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy, Fear Factory, etc.), they don’t feel like a nostalgia act longing for a movement they missed the first time around; aside from the more modern production techniques the group enjoys, there’s a canticle-like catchiness and stygian sensuality that is very much CONTRACULT Collective’s own. How can something that feels so provocative and dangerous also be so alluring? “It’s the Water” is the soundtrack to a hatefuck born of bad decisions. I mean that as high praise.
