Thin Lzzy: Halestorm, Judas Priest, Alice in Chains, ex-Machine Head Members Team Up on “Bad Reputation” Cover
Former Machine Head guitarist Phil Demmel has assembled another killer lineup of metal musicians for a cover, following his rendition of Alice in Chains’ “No Excuses” last month with members of Bleeding Through, Shinedown, and his former bandmate, Dave McClain (now in Sacred Reich).
This time around he’s tackled Thin Lizzy’s “Bad Reputation” with the help of the band’s pseudo-namesake Lzzy Hale (Halestorm) on vocals, Judas Priest guitarist Richie Faulkner and Alice in Chains bassist Mike Inez, and he’s once again turned to McClain for drums. I dig this this one a bit more than the AIC cover because I absolutely love Lzzy Hale’s voice, and both guitar solos here are straight fire.
Offered Demmel on the collaboration:
“First in a series. After Marta and I had so much fun doing ‘No Excuses,’ I invited my buds Dave McClain (Sacred Reich/Machine Head), Richie Faulkner (Judas Preist), Mike Inez (Alice in Chains, Ozzy, BLS, pretty much every band) and resident Bad-Ass Lzzy Hale (Halestorm) to jam on one of my favorite tunes by one of my favorite bands. Mixed by Paul Fig, Vid edit by Todd Shuss. More ‘Collab-A-Jams’ coming and look for a guest-oriented Guitar breakdown and play-through show coming as soon as the Shelter in Place rules allow.”
