“I Will Jump”: New Mash-Up Mixes Van Halen + Gloria Gaynor

I’ve said this before, but I still believe it to be true: one of the best things about mash-ups is the way they can take a song you don’t really like and suddenly make it seem like the best thing ever. Case in point: DJ Cummerbund‘s new mash-up of Van Halen’s “Jump” and “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor. The latter song is by no means bad, but it’s so over-used that if I never heard it again, I’d be fine with that. And yet, reimagined with David Lee Roth’s vocals and Eddie Van Halen’s guitars, and it pops again. Sweet.
