Mayhem Festival Will Be Back… in 2021

It seems like just about a billion years ago now that rumors started swirling re: the return of Mayhem Festival in 2020 after a five year hiatus. In actuality, it’s only been a few months. We had no idea who was actually gonna be on the bill — rumors of Megadeth and Lamb of God co-headlining turned out to be false, with the two bands announcing their own tour instead. Nonetheless, it seemed clear from the reaction online that fans were stoked on the prospect of the once-major annual traveling package tour making a comeback.

This being the case, there’s good news and there’s bad news. The good news is, organizers of the tour have confirmed that they’re planning to bring Mayhem back. The bad news is, for reasons I’m sure don’t need to be explained, that won’t happen until 2021.

This according to a post on the fest’s official Instagram account:

It’s hard to call this revelation a “bummer,” since we were never 100% sure that the tour was coming back, and besides, every tour for the next few months (if not the remainder of 2020) is gonna be called off. Still, this obviously would have been a much more fun way to spend a summer day than binging whatever Netflix show we’re all obsessed with in July.

Head to the comments section to try and predict what bands will be part of Mayhem Festival 2021.
