Bandcamp Will Waive Its Revenue Share Every First Friday of the Next Three Months
As they did back in March, Bandcamp will be waiving its revenue share all purchases made on the first Friday of every month for the next three months (the specific dates being May 1, June 5, and July 3). That means 100% of profits from sales will go directly to the artists on its platform. Given the fact that no one can tour right now, Amazon has temporarily stop shipping physical media, and the economy is generally, y’know, not great, it’s more important to support your favorite bands now than ever before, and this is certainly an excellent way to do that.
To make it easy for you, here are links to just some of the metal labels that have Bandcamp pages…
- Brutal Panda
- Earache
- Epitaph
- Metal Blade
- Profound Lore
- Prosthetic
- Relapse
- 20 Buck Spin
- Unique Leader
- Willowtip
…and here is a link to every Bandcamp release tagged “metal.” But it goes without saying that you can obviously use the site’s “search” function as well; in addition to the label accounts, there are a lot of individual artist pages, which are frequently available for signed and unsigned bands alike. So if there’s some release you’ve been eyeing for a minute, keep in mind those three dates — again, May 1, June 5, and July 3! — would be a great time to pull the trigger.
