Watch Devin Townsend’s First Live Quarantine Concert [Update: Now with Official Embed]

While most musicians affected by the coronavirus pandemic (aka all of them) are still wallowing in self pity and watching Netflix all day while they understandably freak out about how they’ll make ends meet for the next year-plus, Devin Townsend has taken the bull by the horns and dived headfirst into an unprecedented period of productivity, releasing a ton of new music, launching a podcast, teaching himself Twitch and now, his latest endeavor, live-streaming concerts from his home.

Devin announced last week that he’d be playing three online concerts via the streaming service StageIt — with the proceeds going to three separate charities to help medical workers on the front lines of the pandemic — and the first of those concerts took place yesterday, April 18. The 45-minute set saw Devin act as singer, guitarist and camera man, controlling a four-camera rig himself from an Xbox controller mounted in front of him. How’s that for ingenuity? You can watch a low-quality rip full-quality upload of the concert below, with an official version likely coming soon.

Devin’s next concerts will take place on Saturdays April 25 and May 2 at 3pm EDT / 12pm PDT on StageIt. Admission is $20, and like we said, the proceeds will go to charities that’ll help medical workers risking their lives right now. So don’t be a cheapass! We’re including the rip below in the hopes We hope that you’ll buy tickets for one of the upcoming shows when you see how much fun these concerts can be.
