Deftones Are Mixing Their New Album, Launch Twitch Livestream Series
Great news! According to Deftones drummer Abe Cunningham (via the below Instagram post), the band’s new album is currently being mixed.
Less-than-great-news! Cunningham actually said the same thing back in February. It’s not that unanticipated that they should still be at it two months later… after all, the band is kind of notorious for moving at a, er, deliberate pace when it comes to the creation of their records (remember, they originally said the new album would be out in 2019). Still, who knows what the heck this means vis-à-vis getting the album in 2020. When CD and vinyl plants currently shut down anyway, I don’t think anyone should be taken aback if we don’t get to hear this thing before next year.
Better news! The group is also starting a series of livestreams on their Twitch channel. The inaugural one will be hosted by sampler/keyboardist Frank Delgado, and will take place tonight, April 17, at 8pm PDT/11pm EDT. If that’s past your bedtime, remember that Twitch streams live online forever, so you can always watch it tomorrow morning or whatever.
