Kiss Make Merch with Marvel
Kiss and Marvel go way back — the band and the legendary comic publisher teamed up in 1977 for a book that was printed in the quartet’s own blood (Kiss have always known how to stage a good publicity stunt). They did a second book with Marvel a year later, and even appeared in a 1977 issue of Howard the Duck. So, yeah, the two have a history together.
This being the case, it makes perfect sense that Kiss and Marvel are now re-teaming — although not for another comic. Instead, they’ll co-release a new series of merch… specifically, four t-shirts: one that re-creates the cover of 1976’s Destroyer with Marvel characters, one that re-creates the cover of 2009’s Sonic Boom with Marvel characters, one that re-creates the cover of 1961’s Fantastic Four #1 with the members of Kiss, and one that just has the band and a buncha Marvel characters together but is not, to the best of my knowledge, based on a famous piece of pre-existing art (although the Kiss drawings are from the aforementioned ’77 comic, natch).
You can check out all the designs below, and buy ’em here. Although, if you’re into the whole metal/ Marvel mash-up thing, I do know of a certain super-duper awesome metal blog that sells a pair of cool t-shirts featuring Marvel characters for a fraction of the price of the Kiss tees. Hmm…
