Summer 2020 ’80s Revival Trend Continues with Ratt, Tom Keifer, Skid Row, and Slaughter Tour

Ratt, Cinderella’s Tom Keifer, Skid Row, and Slaughter are the latest group of ’80s glam bands to announce a big summer tour. In terms of coolness, I’d put this above the Dokken/ Lynch Mob/ Lita Ford tour, but still below the Guns N’ Roses and Def Leppard/ Mötley Crüe/ Poison/ Joan Jett tours. Like, this is the tour you should buy your glam-lovin’ S.O. tickets to if you can’t afford the pricey GN’R or Def Lep etc. tours. I mean none of these bands are touring with anything approaching their original line-ups — hell, Keifer isn’t even touring with “a version” of Cinderella — whereas GN’R have all the members about whom the general public cares, Def Lep has all the surviving members of its classic line-up, and the Crüe and Poison have all their members, period. So. Yeah.

Some other cruel takeaways I’d like to point out:

  • Everyone should be embarrassed to be billed below the current version of Ratt, which lacks both guitarist Warren DeMartini and drummer Bobby Blotzer.
  • The last of Cinderella’s four albums, Still Climbing, came out in 1994, and the band’s discography has sold roughly 7,000,000+ copies; Skid Row’s first two releases alone, Skid Row and Slave to the Grind, sold that many units, and the band has released a buncha more stuff since then. Even factoring in Keifer’s three solo releases, the fact that Skid Row are billed below Keifer here should tell the band one thing: it’s time to get off their goddamn high horse and reunite with Sebastian Bach already.
  • Blas Elias was offered the gig drumming for Shania Twain, but opted to keep playing for Slaughter instead, and that will never not be funny/ sad/ weirdly commendable.
  • Slaughter don’t have a Facebook page and that’s kind of amazing.
