Winterfylleth Announce New Album, Stream First Single
Winterfylleth’s new album, The Reckoning Dawn, won’t be out until May, but I can already tell you this: if the whole thing is as good as the eight-minutes-plus title track, it’s gonna be a contender for one the year’s best albums. “The Reckoning Dawn” is melodic, spirtualistic black metal of the highest order, the kind of song that might actually be the catalyst for an out-of-body experience (and that’s without the aid of drugs). It’s dark and twisted, for sure, but it doesn’t quite feel evil, if that makes sense. It actually has a really beautiful kind of transcendental quality to it.
Or, put more simply: this shit is so good, they shoulda called it “Winterfyllatio.”
Listen to “The Reckoning Dawn” the song below. The Reckoning Dawn the album comes out May 8 on Candlelight/Spinefarm, and can be pre-ordered here. The band also has a buncha European and U.K. tour dates lined up for May, which you can get at the bottom of this post. Support will come from Mork. No word on why Mindy can’t make it.
