Deicide to Headline Summer Slaughter 2020?
With a mere thirty-two metal and hard rock tours scheduled to his North America between May and August, there’s gonna be a serious dearth of opportunities for extreme music fans to experience live music this summer season. WHAT A BUMMER!
Luckily, it looks like Summer Slaughter is returning for another year. Phew!
As is the case every year, the tour’s organizers are teasing acts via the use of song titles on social media. The first tease: “Thou Begone,” which is the title of a song from Deicide’s 2013 album, In the Minds of Evil.
So it seems safe to assume that Deicide will either be the headliners or co-headliners of Summer Slaughter 2020.
Who else will be on the trek? Let’s speculate recklessly: Origin, Beneath the Massacre, and Defeated Sanity finish a North American tour together in April, which might be a wide enough berth for one or more of ’em to also do Summer Slaughter. Ditto Thy Art Is Murder and Fit for an Autopsy. Suicide Silence finish a tour in May, which makes them seem less likely to me, but who knows. Same goes for The Black Dahlia Murder. Despised Icon haven’t toured the U.S. in a minute, but they also have a July 30 date in Romania already scheduled, which could be an issue. It would be rad to have Sylosis on the bill but that’s probably a pipe dream given how rarely they cross the ocean. Code Orange are tied up with Knotfest for most of June, and Heaven Shall Burn seems like a stretch.
I’m sure there are some obvious candidates I’m not thinking of. Feel free to make suggestions in the comments section below. Expect some more teases in the coming weeks before an official announcement soonish.
