Cirith Ungol Announce First New Album in 29 Years, Stream First Single
Cirith Ungol broke up in May of ’92, which was right around the time a ten-year-old Axl Rosenberg was discovering metal… which is to say, I, like Vince, completely missed the boat on them. For whatever it’s worth, at least some of the blame for that lies with the older metalheads to whom I looked up for never exposing me to the band.
In any case, the group has now announced Forever Black, their first album of new material since 1991’s Paradise Lost, which makes this a great time for n00bs like me to acquaint ourselves with the band’s work. And based on the first single from Forever Black, “Legions Arise,” it sounds like the record will find the group picking up more or less exactly where they left off. It would not be hard to convince someone that this song was first recorded and released in 1993. I mean that as a compliment, by the way.
Check out “Legions Arise” below! Forever Black comes out April 24 on Metal Blade, and can be pre-ordered here. The band also have some festival dates coming up this spring and summer. Get those at the bottom of this post.
