Muldrotha (Fallujah, The Zenith Passage, Decrepit Birth) Unveil New Track, “To the Kingdom Underground”
Towards the end of last year we told you about Muldrotha, a new band featuring ex-Fallujah vocalist Alex Hofmann, his former bandmate Andrew Baird on drums, Rob Maramonte of The Zenith Passage on guitars, and Decrepit Birth’s Sean Martinez on bass. Their debut track, “Lungs of the Mother,” was closest in style to the aggressive death metal of Decrepit Birth, but had elements of all of its members bands, past and present.
Now Muldrotha are back with another new track, “To the Kingdom Underground,” this one as uncompromising and unrelenting as the first, but with a healthier helping of atmospherics and prog. Put another way, the elements of The Zenith Passage and Fallujah that are in the band’s DNA shine through more brightly here, but in no way overwhelm the searing brutality of their Decrepit Birth genome. This, I think, is the sweet spot of where this band is at their best — I dig it!
Give it a spin below. “To the Kingdom Underground,” like its predecessor released in December, is a one-off single. The band hasn’t announced an album yet, so your best bet is to follow them on Bandcamp, Facebook and Instagram to keep up.
