Lamb of God: New Album Is Done and “Coming Soon”
Lamb of God ended 2019 by releasing a teaser video for a new studio album, and with the rumor that they’ll be one of the headliners (along with Megadeth) for the re-ignited Mayhem Festival this summer goin’ round, it seemed to safe to assume that fans would get to hear new music sooner rather than later.
Now guitarist Mark Morton has more or less confirmed that assumption, telling SiriusXM’s Eddie Trunk’s “Trunk Nation” that the new album is “done” and “coming soon”:
“I’m done with it, that’s for sure. I’m pretty sure [everyone else in the band is] done with it too. I think it’s been printed at this point. I think the last mixes and masters are printed.”
Morton continued:
“We’ve got new music coming soon. And I really, really couldn’t be more excited about it. There’s a whole fresh new energy in the band. It’s our first recordings with Art [Cruz]. Art’s been playing drums with us now for a couple of years, but these are our first songs that we’ve written and recorded with him there. And it’s just a thrill to see these things come to life. And I couldn’t be happier with how the record is turning out, and I’m excited for the world to hear that. There’s gonna be a lot of touring around that, so we’re gonna be super busy on the road.”
Morton went on to say that the record should be released in the “first half of the year, I think.”
Real talk: even as a massive LoG fan, I’m feeling pretty skeptical about the band releasing an album without Chris Adler. His drums have just been SUCH a huge part of what has made Lamb of God’s music so special in the past, y’know? Having said that, I’m obviously rooting for the band to pull it off.
You’ll know more when we do.
