Listen to Monuments’ First Song With Their New Singer

Monuments had a monument(s)al 2019, and not in a good way. The year included parting ways with frontman Chris Barretto (also ex-Periphery) and firing their management and booking agency, which lead to the postponement of a North American tour with Skyharbor, Greyhaven, and Vespera. Oomph.

But “this too shall pass” and all that shit. So now the British progressive djentlemen are kicking off their 2020 in a much more positive fashion, with the release of a new single, “Animus” — their first with Barretto’s successor, Andy Cizek (Makari). The track also finds the band welcoming back drummer Mike Malyan.

Says Cizek of the song:

“Lyrically, this song explores overcoming anxiety. Embracing your burdens and letting them flourish into a positive driving force. Thus, these demons became my ‘Animus.’”

You can check out “Animus” via the video at the bottom of this post. Monuments also have a fuckton of tour dates coming up this year — not just the re-scheduled ones in North America, but also shows in India and Europe. Their complete tour itinerary as it now stands is…
