DevilDriver Have Finished Recording a Double Album
This coming spring it will have been four years since DevilDriver last released an original album, Trust No One, but according to a post from frontman Dez Fafara on social media, the band has not only finished recording their next album, but it’s a double album.
The last few years have been anything but quiet for DevilDriver despite the lack of new music. The band released an album of country covers in 2018, Outlaws ’til the End: Vol. 1, then signed on to co-headline Static-X’s comeback tour. Unfortunately they weren’t able to finish their commitments to that run, as frontman Dez Fafara’s wife, Anahstasia, who is also a partner in Dez’s management company, Oracle Management, was diagnosed with cancer. Thankfully she responded well to treatment and was given the all-clear this past December. But the biggest news of all, undoubtedly, is that Dez got new chin and throat tattoos! Whew.
Here’s Dez’s post on the new double album, which is either locked behind Dez’s private Instagram account or has since been taken down (but not before The PRP nabbed it), posted on Friday, January 17:
“This morning at 2am we turned in all the music and art for DevilDrivers double record over 2 years in the making ! Now ….. I can breathe , what a nice weekend this will be and I was greeted with rain this am as well for the win ! Happy friday everyone…”
So, that should be interesting. Personally I’m rarely a fan of double albums — too long, I don’t have the attention span, just cut the bloat and choose the best songs for one album! — but I’m open to being convinced otherwise. Presumably we’ll start to get a taste of new music in the coming weeks or months, so stay tuned.
