TesseracT Members Collaborate in New Thrash/Hardcore Band, Cage Fight
All of us need an outlet for our anger. And while tech metallers TesseracT certainly aren’t known for making angry music, that was precisely the impetus for forming Cage Fight, a new band helmed by guitarist James Monteith: sometimes we just need to get it all out!
Monteith tells MetalSucks that Cage Fight — which sees Monteith handling guitars, bass an drum programming, features vocalist Jon Reid on the mic and was mixed by Monteith’s TesseracT co-conspirator Acle Kahney (who also helped with drum edits) — is “an expression of frustration at the state of the world. And playing fast riffs is fun!” Here’s a hearty “amen” to both of those things, as the track is full of spirited thrash riffs and fitful bursts of rage. Reid is mainly a drum and bass MC these days, but he first collaborated with Monteith on a rap metal band in the early ’00s (here’s to hoping some footage of that exists somewhere on YouTube). The duo hopes to have a full outfit sorted by the summer so they can begin playing live gigs.
