Rumor: Megadeth and Lamb of God to Headline Revived Mayhem Fest

Last month, a rumor started making the rounds that Mayhem Fest would return this year for the first time since 2015… now another rumor has started making the rounds — this one saying that the revived Mayhem Fest will be headlined by Megadeth and Lamb of God. Both bands have played Mayhem before — LoG in 2010, and ‘Deth in 2011.

That’s obviously a very strong one-two punch… although I do wonder if it’s strong enough. Remember, the 2015 edition of Mayhem crashed and burned despite including Slayer and King Diamond. I don’t know if Megadeth and Lamb of God are any “bigger” those two acts, in terms of draw. Then again, with Dave Mustaine on the mend from cancer, I’m sure a lot of fans will turn out to support him whenever he first tours North America again (Megadeth will be touring Europe with Five Finger Death Punch and Bad Wolves soon — you can get dates and tickets here).

Meanwhile, we still dunno what form the fest will take. Will it be a full summer tour, as it was originally? Or a one-off or series of not-quite-one-off performance(s)? Stay tuned…
