Slipknot’s Corey Taylor Reunites With Tom Savini for His New Horror Movie
In case ya haven’t heard, Corey Taylor is on the cusp of becoming the second member of Slipknot to also become a writer/director, after Clown: he’s written a horror film! The plot is currently unknown to us — or “being kept under wraps,” as they say in the trades — but we do have some new details, thanks to Daily Dead: specifically, that “Taylor’s directorial debut is currently in pre-production, and that both [Tom] Savini as well as his right-hand man, Jason Baker, are thrilled to be teaming up with Taylor for the project.” It was just a month ago that Taylor said he was looking for investors, but if he’s in pre-production, I guess he got that squared away already. Because of course he did. He’s Corey Taylor!
Savini, of course, is the legendary make-up artist and special effects genius behind such classic gore fare as the original Friday the 13th, Dawn of the Dead, and Creepshow, to name but a few. He also designed Corey’s most recent Slipknot mask, which a lot of us find kinda lame. Hopefully his work here will be more up to snuff. (I didn’t mean to make a Slipknot joke just then, but I did and I’ll own it.)
While we wait for more news, remember that Slipknot are on tour even as I type this. Get dates and tickets here.
