MetalSucks contributing photographer Tom Delgado tells us that Cattle Decapitation’s return to Los Angeles last month with Atheist, Author & Punisher, Primitive Man and Vitriol was every bit as action-packed as promised.
Vitriol did their job as openers, getting everyone in the mood to tango before Author & Punisher’s Tristan Shone mesmerized the crowd with his onslaught of custom industrial doom machines and Primitive Man came in for the knockout with their earth-shattering heaviness. Atheist were instant fan-favorites, inspiring multiple circle pits throughout the whole set, and Cattle Decapitation closed out the night by promptly destroying the place. Frontman Travis Ryan mentioned multiple times that the band didn’t expect to get the crowd response that they did, but it turned out that the L.A. crowd was filled with retired moshers waiting for any excuse to let loose.
