Tool to Headline Bonnaroo 2020 with Lizzo, Tame Impala, Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Ray and More
The annual Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, TN has an on-and-off history of dabbling in metal. Clutch and Lamb of God appeared on the bill in 2016, with the 2017 and 2018 lineups going completely metal-less before the event’s bookers dove back into the heavy abyss last year with Gojira and Deafheaven.
The 2020 incarnation of the ‘roo will see a bit of metal as well with Tool announced as the Friday night headliners, performing immediately after Miley Cyrus (how’s that for a one-two punch?). Lizzo will headline Saturday and Tame Impala will headline Sunday, if that gives you an idea of Tool’s relative standing in the world of music at large. Elsewhere on the bill, other metal or metal-adjacent acts include Primus, Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats, Tenacious D and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.
Tool’s appearance at Bonnaroo begs the question: are Tool planning more North American touring this summer? It certainly seems likely.
Bonnaroo goes down June 12, 13 and 14, with an official pre-party scheduled for Thursday, June 11. Tickets go on sale at 9am on Thursday, January 9 right here.
