The Ghost Inside Plan Fundraiser for Australian Wildfire Relief
The damage from wildfires raging in Australia right now is absolutely ghastly. In one video I saw on social media, which I don’t care to repost due to its unsettling nature, hundreds of animal carcasses were visible at roadside as the person filming passed by in a car. Dead bodies, strewn everywhere. Absolutely horrifying. Reports estimate that HALF A BILLION animals have died so far, and that over 150 individual fires are currently raging.
The Ghost Inside have announced plans to help out with a fundraiser for wildfire relief ahead of their set at the UNIFY Gathering in Victoria this coming weekend. In a video post to Twitter, the band explained that while they haven’t figured out exactly where they’ll donate the money yet (“we wanna make sure we do our due diligence”), they felt compelled to do their part, and they plan to raise funds by selling some exclusive items as well as allowing fans to sign their stage backdrop for a donation.
You can read the statement in full below and watch the video at the bottom of this post. The fundraiser will take place 4pm on Wednesday, January 8, at 24Hundred, 51 Wangaratta St, Richmond VIC 3121. Thank you, The Ghost Inside, for doing your part!
The Ghost Inside have a gig scheduled in London in July; tickets here.
“We threw together an event for Wednesday over at the UNIFY office. We’re going to try and raise a little bit of money for bushfire relief.
“We have a couple of exclusive items for sale, a couple of shirts that won’t be available at the festival on Saturday, we’ve got a handful of records with us, we’ve got some posters from our show in LA. We’ll be hanging out taking pictures, signing whatever, and we’ll also have our backdrop for the show hanging up somewhere so you can come sign it, it’ll be like a nice little guestbook, so you can see your name in lights on Saturday at the festival.
“We’re trying to figure out exactly where we’re going to send all the money that we pull together on Wednesday. We wanna make sure we do our due diligence and send it where it’s gonna be the most helpful, but there’s no way we could come here at this time, see what’s going on and not try to do our part, so hopefully we’ll see you Wednesday and hopefully this is a super-serious video with super-serious faces.”
