Carcass Unleash New Song, “Under the Scalpel Blade”

Carcass have been in the recording studio working on their follow-up to the second best album of the decade since at least November of last year, and now is your chance to hear the fruits of those sessions: the band has digitally released “Under the Scalpel Blade,” which was previously available only as a flexi disc with Decibel Magazine.

As far as Carcass songs go, this one’s a banger that finds the band at their fastest and heaviest as opposed to the more melodic ground on which they sometimes tread. That’s neither a good thing nor a bad one: all Carcass is great Carcass! The riffs are big, the rhythms hit hard, and there’s a scorching guitar solo that’ll raise the hairs on your neck.
