Report: Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard and Poison Set to Announce Summer 2020 Stadium Tour

After weeks of rumors that culminated with the band throwing fuel onto the fire, Mötley Crüe appear all but certain to reunite for a tour in the summer of 2020.

Crüe, of course, went to great lengths to convince their fans that the massive tour they wrapped up in 2015 would be their final one ever, even going as far as to publicly sign a “cessation of touring” contract that prohibited them from reforming. But that was before the release of their massively successful biopic, The Dirt, which exposed them to an entire new generation of fans and reignited interest amongst their base. And that was before they were offered a reported $150 million by live events behemoth Live Nation to reunite.

Rolling Stone ran a report this morning claiming that a U.S. stadium tour next summer along with Def Leppard and Poison is set. The magazine used the opportunity to dig up a quote Nikki Sixx gave them back in 2014 about why Mötley Crüe would never ever, not in a million years, ever ever NEVER tour again, nope certainly not:

“Legally, we can’t play again. The only loophole is if all four band members agreed to do it, we could override our own contract. But we know that will never happen. There are people in this band who will refuse to ever do it again, and you’re talking to one of them. There is no amount of money that would ever make me do it again because I have such pride in how we’re ending it.”

“If anybody ever – and I don’t believe anybody ever would – would call any other band members and say, ‘Hey, it’s been 10 years, let’s just do 10 shows. A million a pop,’ it could never happen unless all four band members agreed. And if we did agree, the way we’ve set it up – including this conversation right now – we’d have so much egg on our face. We have so much pride that that alone would stop it.”

Cue egg on the face reel. This is gonna look bad. But I’m wagering most folks won’t care enough to keep them from opening their wallets, and the lineup is stacked enough to bring plenty of added value to the equation. In short: of COURSE Crüe are getting back together. Did anyone ever believe they truly wouldn’t?

We will, of course, keep you updated as soon as dates, cities and venues are announced.
