Dreamarcher’s New Album The Bond is Bizarrely Experimental and Refreshing
Dreamarcher’s latest album, The Bond, is equally ambient, dreamy and darkly dissonant. Packed with everything from soft rock vocals to rage-fueled screams and an expansive range of musical influences, it’s quite different from most metal albums of 2019 and that in itself is really refreshing.
There is a ton of anger packed into small pieces of the album but it always eases back into a feeling of gloom and despair. Overall it bears a lot of resemblance to Cult of Luna, but it’s even more experimental and progressive. The chaotically fast and heavy pieces are a fusion of hardcore and black metal, kind of like what Abigail Williams were doing a few years back. They even throw some elements of folk metal in with a fiddle. It’s interesting how well they juxtapose fieriness with alluring calm; the result is the furthest thing from predictable and it keeps you guessing as it takes you on a deeply emotional journey while maintaining an enjoyably intriguing flow.
