Protest the Hero’s Rody Walker Covers Meat Loaf’s “Bat Out of Hell”
Punk rock collective the Punk Rock Factory have released an album featuring pop punk covers of classic songs from across the music universe, and its debut single is a doozy: Protest the Hero vocalist Rody Walker covering Meat Loaf’s entire six-and-a-half minute epic, “Bat Out of Hell.”
Walker handles Loaf’s vocals with aplomb, no surprise given his talents but a sigh of relief given his recent voice troubles. The band’s pop punk adaption is fun, too; clearly these guy can play, but they don’t take themselves too seriously. In the accompanying video, Walker invades the band’s video game system and hijinks ensue. Watch below!
Punk Rock Factor’s The Wurst Is Yet To Come is out today! Order here. The album also includes covers of Hanson’s “Mmmbop,” Beach Boys’s “I Get Around,” Men at Work’s “Down Under” and more, and you can stream the entire thing below on Spotify.
