Morbid Angel and Obituary Featured on Jeopardy!
ANSWER: This is the most metal game show of all.
QUESTION: What is Jeopardy!?
Seriously… is there any game show more metal than Jeopardy!? I posit to you, dear friends, that there is not. The show has demonstrated its metal-friendliness time and time again. Not only was Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine once a contestant on the program (alas, video of that blessed event now seems impossible to find), but over the past few years, answers on the show have centered around bands like Slayer, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, Mötley Crüe, Five Finger Death Punch, the Foo Fighters, and even Lizzy friggin’ Borden. Of course, it’s possible someone behind-the-scenes just raids Wikipedia for relevant information in order to make the show that much more difficult for its traditionally not-metal contestants. But still! It’s not like Pat and Vanna ever wound up with the phrase “Master of Puppets” on Wheel of Fortune.
The latest metal bands to wind up on Jeopardy!: Morbid Angel and Obituary, cited as “popular bands in this genre.” Kind of amazingly, one bow tie-wearing contestant was able to figure out the question, despite his facial expression suggesting that he doesn’t actually know much about death metal. Way to use context for a clue, bro!
You can watch the blessed event below. Morbid Angel’s next tour of the U.S. kicks off later this month; get dates and tickets here. Obituary launch their next tour in December; dates and tickets are here.
