Saturday Night Live Skit Skewers Emo and Pop Punk
You said you’d never go corporate, never sell out, never work for the man.
Sound familiar?
A skit on this past weekend’s Saturday Night Live, hosted by actress Kristin Stewart, took the faux-rebellious nature of “counter-culture” music to task. And while the short music video — which also featured SNL regulars Pete Davidson, Kyle Mooney and Mikey Day — focuses on the ’90s / ’00s pop punk and emo aesthetic with an original song that may as well be a Sum 41 B-Side, it’s easy enough to imagine the characters wearing spikey armbands and Burzum shirts. Y’all ain’t as rebellious as you think.
Have a watch and a laugh below.
