EXCLUSIVE: Black Royal Premiere NSFW Video for “Pagan Saviour”
Whether you believe in Wicca or not, the rites of the religion speak to something primal in all of us. Finnish sludge/doom quartet Black Royal appear to be true believers. Their latest single, “Pagan Saviour,” drops on November 1 and comes from their upcoming album Firebride. We’re psyched to premiere the video for you, which features the holy metal trinity of blood, fire, and boobs — sometimes at the same time! According to vocalist Riku, the song directly confronts the conflict between pagan religions and Christianity. Appropriately, there’s a Behemoth-style groove to the stoner rumble.
“The song was inspired by the witch hunts, paganism and war between early Christianity and ancient mythology. It’s about how the church forced common people to follow their laws and rules and criminalized all other ways of life in order to control citizens and the state.”
Firebride won’t be out until February 14, 2020, but you can pick up Black Royal’s 2018 album Lightbringer here. Enjoy the video below.
