Trivium Team up With Portugal’s Toy for Cover of “Coração Não Tem Idade (Vou Beijar)”

Unless you’re one of MetalSucks’ three Portuguese-speaking readers (Olá amigos!), you’re likely unfamiliar with “Coração Não Tem Idade (Vou Beijar)” (the literal translation is “Heart is Ageless (I’ll Kiss)”) by Toy (né Brinquedo de Criança). And even if you were familiar with it, well… it may or may not actually be your bag. Although it will definitely get stuck in your head regardless of whether you enjoy it or not. The chorus isn’t a hook so much as it’s a magnet.

So why am I talking about this random Portuguese song? Because last year, a subscriber to Matt Heafy’s Twitch channel requested that the Trivium frontman perform the track for one his regular streaming cover sessions. Heafy obliged.

Heafy’s cover got back to Toy, which lead to the Portuguese singer performing “Until the World Goes Cold” with Trivium at the VOA Heavy Rock festival this past July.

Which brings us to the matter at hand: Trivium have now recorded a considerably heavier version of “Coração Não Tem Idade (Vou Beijar),” which features additional vocals from Toy himself. And if you’ve read this far, I’m guessing it will be your bag. I mean, they really Trivium’d the fuck out of it. If I didn’t know it was a cover and you were just like “Oh yeah Matt Heafy actually speaks Portuguese fluently and wrote this one song’s lyrics in that language,” I’d believe you.
