Bruce Dickinson’s Aviation Company is Now Considerably More Metal

MetalSucks is currently hard at work on a very funny video about metal fans’ collective uncertainty about how to pronounce certain band names. Is it “Necro-pha-gist” or “Necroph-agist” or “Necro-phay-gist”? Is it “Alla-gay-on” or “Alla-gee-on” or “A-legion”? Is it “Sun Oh” or “Sun” or “Incredibly Fucking Boring”? And so on and so forth.

I mention this because Cardiff Aviation, the company chaired by Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson, has changed its name to Caerdav. Which could easily be the name of a metal band.

I mean, how the shit do you pronounce that? “Care-dahv”? “Care-dayv”? “Car-dove”? Or is it just a tr00kvlt way of saying “Cardiff”?

The below interview with Dickinson reveals that the correct pronunciation is, in fact, “Car-dove.” Which I think was the best of all possible outcomes. If nothing else, it’s easy to remember. Car-dove. It’s a dove you keep in the car. Common enough!

I assume the change was made primarily to increase SEO: do a search for “Cardiff,” and of course most of the results will be related to the capital city of Wales, but do a search for “Caerdav,” and Brucie’s company comes up immediately. But I’m just guessing.

ANYWAY, Car-dove is also opening a new paint facility so they can now, y’know, paint planes. So. Neat-o.

And then I found twenty bucks.
