Watch: Video of Super Young, Clean-Shaven Zakk Wylde
Folks forget that Ozzy Osbourne canned Zakk Wylde in 1995, to be replaced by Joe Holmes, mostly because Holmes never produced anything remarkable with the Ozzman despite some writing credits on 2001’s Down to Earth. Zakk stayed busy during his six year hiatus from Ozzy’s band, though, most notably by getting Black Label Society off the ground.
Before BLS, though, there was a Zakk solo record — Book of Shadows (1996) — and before THAT there was Pride & Glory, which served as both Zakk’s solo moniker and album title, originally released in ’94. That album just got a spiffy reissue via eOne, and to promote it they’ve compiled a new video for the track “Machine Gun Man,” assembled using footage from those years showing a super young-looking and completely beardless Zakk Wylde. You’ve likely seen footage of that unrecognizable mug from Ozzy’s old videos, but you probably haven’t seen this footage… and whew, it’s a trip! Totally different guy.
The Pride & Glory reissue, available on picture disc and containing five new bonus tracks, is out now and available for order here.
