Stream Schammasch’s Brutal New Single, “Rays Like Razors”

Schammasch have released a single, “Rays like Razors,” in anticipation of their upcoming album Hearts of No Light.

Composed of a blend of everything black and death, “Rays like Razors” features prolific roars over grimy, distorted black metal guitars. The lead work is also worth a mention, showcasing a dissonant picking passage that fits well inside the mantra-like track. The sound is catastrophically chaotic and monolithically dark. Its echoing power feels like an anti-religious experience, and the occult imagery in the accompanying video adds to the overall broodingly philosophical mood of the music.

Since their inception in 2009, the blackened death metal outfit from Switzerland has constantly evolved from the black metal from which they were birthed, appealing to fans of fellow genre-bending bands such as Rotting Christ and Naglfar. Schammasch will make their North American debut at the Decibel Magazine Metal & Beer Festival in Los Angeles in December 2019 and then head to Europe with Enthroned and Caronte.
