The Voice Myanmar Contestant Brings Slipknot’s “Spit It Out” to the Stage
The Voice Myanmar took an expected turn when one contestant blew judges away with an aggressive performance of Slipknot’s “Spit It Out.”
Novem Htoo gave an impressive blind audition including extreme metal vocal techniques combined with Corey Taylor’s trademark powerful but smooth singing style. Judges were skeptical at first, but it did not take them long to get into it; one of them was even air-drumming along with the classic Slipknot track. The audience ate it up and eventually all judges hit the button to reveal the man responsible for the chaos.
Htoo is not the first to perform a metal song on reality TV. In Sweden, a man performed an Iron Maiden song, “Run to the Hills,” on The Voice. Recently, a woman in Germany gave a stunningly powerful tribute to Lamb of God by performing “Ghost Walking.” Even Bring Me The Horizon have been showcased by a woman in Bulgaria who performed “Can You Feel My Heart.” The reaction is always the same – an initial shock followed by awe and admiration of the raw talent that these performers are showcasing. Most of these contestants have been met by praise and embraced by the metal community.
Slipknot fans like Htoo can catch them live in the U.K. and Europe on their upcoming 2020 tour with Behemoth; get tickets here.
