Greta Thunberg Comments on Viral Death Metal Video

The most popular story on MetalSucks last week — by a not-insignificant margin — was that of this video, which re-utilized a recent UN speech by Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old Swedish environmental activist, to create a blistering death metal song. Unsurprisingly, that video went viral pretty quickly.

In fact, Thunberg herself has now commented on the clip, joking that she’s giving up environmentalism for a career in death metal:

Y’know, Thunberg kids, but imagine all the good she could do if she threw her current celebrity behind a metal festival intended to cause awareness of and raise money to help combat climate change. All the bands we think of as being environmentally conscious to some degree or another — Gojira, Cattle Decapitation, Earth Crisis, etc. — could play. That would be swell. It’ll never happen, but hey, a fella can dream, can’t it?
