Dave Grohl Rickrolls 60,000 People After Paying Tribute to The Prodigy’s Keith Flint
Remember how just last week we all got hit in the feels when we heard that The Prodigy are back in the studio and making music after the death of singer Keith Flint? Well, now Dave Grohl is coming in to finish off that final knock out to our hearts.
During the Foo Fighters’ headlining performance at the Reading Festival over the weekend, Dave paid tribute to Keith onstage by dedicating the Foos’ performance of “Run” to the singer. After sharing some memories of him, Grohl said, “Let me tell you something. I remember playing here with Prodigy in 2009. That was the craziest shit I’ve ever seen.”
Before playing “Run,” Dave told the crowd, “I wanna sing this one for Keith from The Prodigy. I wanna see some Prodigy shit out there.” My only hope is that the crowd indeed delivered some Prodigy shit.
In typical Dave Grohl fashion, he then went on to tease a Nirvana song before proceeding to stop hundreds of glistening and hopeful eyes in their tracks and booming right into Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up.” Astley himself climbed on stage to join he band for the track, effectively Rickrolling an entire audience of 60,000 people. Isn’t that just beautiful?
