Video: Underage Guitarist Plays Show Outside Venue While Band Performs Inside
Portland, OR metal band Ancient Burials found themselves in a bit of a pickle the other night when The Hawthorne Theater Lounge — at which the band was scheduled to play a show with Mission G, Grudge Match and Paradigm Shift — wouldn’t let guitarist Cameron Nealey, who is under 21 years old, into the venue.
So Ancient Burials did what any sensible band in that situation would do: hooked Nealey up to a wireless pack so he could play on the sidewalk outside the venue while the rest of the band played inside! Aided by a window conveniently located right next to the drum set to act as an impromptu outdoor stage monitor, the twin wireless packs provided by Paradigm Shift allowed co-guitarist Mike Vargas to join Nealey outside in solidarity, occasionally running back inside to hold shit down. The whole scene made for some entertaining video as cars drove by and honked in support.
Congratulations, everyone: this is the one instance in which a local band having wireless packs was actually useful. Check out the clip below!
