King Diamond Announces North American Tour Dates, Reveals New Album Details
We knew we were getting closer to the release of a new King Diamond album when his majesty debuted a new song, “Masquerade of Madness,” during a show back in June. But now it’s officially official: the King’s first offering in twelve years will be called The Institute, and it will be released next year on Metal Blade Records. That might seem like a ways off, but the Monarch of Metal promises to release the first single this fall (likely right in time for the upcoming tour I’m about to tell you about), which is basically right around the corner.
King Diamond himself says of the album…
“For reasons unknown to you, it is clear that you have no way of making it to ‘The Institute’ on your own at this point. Therefore, we will bring THE INSTITUTE to you. You don’t want to miss this special opportunity for treatment only we can give you. It could be for your own good, you know…”
Given the title of both the album and the aforementioned new song, it seems safe to assume that The Institute will have a narrative surrounding some sort of asylum. Presumably a really creepy, fucked up one.
While we wait to find out, we have this to look forward to: a North American tour headlined by his royal falsettoness, with support from Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats and Idle Hands.
