Chimaira Vocalist Mark Hunter Underwent Successful Thyroid Cancer Surgery
Praise be Dio: Chimaira frontman Mark Hunter, who revealed earlier this month that he has thyroid cancer, has undergone successful surgery to treat the condition.
Hunter has Papillary thyroid carcinoma, which is the most common variety of thyroid cancer, and the type of treatment he’s undergoing has a ten-year survival rate of more than 90%. Still, the word “cancer” in any context is scary beyond belief, and I can only imagine the kind of anxiety Hunter’s been experiencing ever since the diagnosis.
Hunter issued a brief update on Twitter yesterday evening indicating that the surgery was a success along with a photo showing the scar souvenir to prove it. He followed that up a short time later with another tweet indicating his sense of wit is still intact. Both are embedded below.
Get well soon, Mark, and we hope your voice is up to snuff and back to bellowing out those trademark, blood-curdling roars in short order.
