Lostprophets’ Ian Watkins Sentenced to Additional Prison Time for Hiding Cell Phone in His Butt
Ex-Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins, who was jailed in 2013 for several counts of pedophilia, has been on trial again this week for allegedly hiding a cell phone in his anus while locked up. A new report from The PRP states that Watkins was found guilty, and ten months have been added to his 35-year sentence. Watkins eligibility for parole has been extended five months, and first comes up in 2029.
Watkins alleged that he had been forced to conceal the phone after being threatened by other inmates and that those inmates demanded he contact female fans on the outside to ask them for money. Prosecutors made the case that his use of the phone to contact a former lover on the outside demonstrated the phone was willingly his.
Ultimately Judge Rodney Jameson QC wasn’t having it, stating to Watkins during the sentencing that he did not accept the singer’s version of events:
“I am very conscious of the fact you are serving a very long time and you will be well into middle age by the time you are released. The fact of the matter is if there is not an appreciable penalty for having had a mobile phone in these circumstances then of course you would draw from that the lesson you could have another one and that is not a position I would want to encourage.”
This is not the first time Watkins has run into trouble during his prison stay. In 2017, he groomed a 21-year-old fan to engage in acts of pedophilia with her two-year-old child.
May this piece of shit rot in prison forever.
