Track Premiere: Sibiir, “Leeches”

0

Hey, guys. I’m gonna be steering the MetalSucks ship today, so be nice! I’ll start things off with a new track premiere from Oslo’s blackened hardcore giants Sibiir, who’ve just shared a new track off their upcoming sophomore album, Ropes.

“Leeches” is every bit as foul as the name implies, its rotten stench lingering throughout a grim and painfully bleak dystopia. What’s most unnerving, however, is the lyrics, which explore very real, culturally relevant themes that most of us wish we could ignore.  “A looming concern that doesn’t let go, which sooner or later will evolve into bona fide anxiety and despair for what the future might hold. The lyrics deal with subjects such as the climate crisis, the increasing wealth gap, a failing capitalistic system, and our passive attitude towards it all.”

Well, shit. Now I’m having my third existential crisis of the week. In a good way of course — this track (and the album at large) offers some hard-to-digest, but absolutely critical food for thought. And: sick riffs. Give “Leeches” a listen below, follow the band on Facebook, and catch Sibiir this year at Wacken!
