Video: Watch Shinedown Singer Brent Smith’s Pre-Show Vocal Warmup Routine
As an admittedly terrible singer, I’ve never really taken the time to think about the way vocalists warm up before a show. I always just figured they did some crazy monkey noises for about 10-15 minutes and then ran onto the stage to face thousands of screaming fans, vocal cords ready to rock.
Shinedown’s Brent Smith has come to grace us all with a behind-the-scenes look at his pre-show vocal exercises and provides us vocal plebs with an in-depth explanation about his process. So if you ever need to warm up your vocals before facing a slew of screaming fans, this is the video for you.
I hope Mr. Smith keeps taking plenty of care of his voice, as he’ll be hitting up cities all over North America with Papa Roach and Asking Alexandria later this year, dates for which can be found here.
